Alexa Ellesse PenaVega is an American actress and singer. She was born in Miami, Florida on August 27, 1988. She became known worldwide in 2001 for her role as Carmen Cortez in the film 'Spy Kids' which was a huge success. Two more sequels were filmed: Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over.
In the July 2003 issue Vanity Fair, Alexa Vega was named one of the hottest teen celebrities. She has gone on to appear in several movies, including Sleepover and State's Evidence in 2004; Remember the Daze (2006); Broken Hill and Innocent in 2009; The Devil's Carnival (2012) directed by Darren Lynn Bousman; Mother's Day (2012); The Clockwork Girl, Wicked Blood and Code Academy in 2014; Spare Parts, Do You Believe? and Roommate Wanted in 2015.
Alexa Vega as a singer recorded three songs for the soundtracks of the film Spy Kids. She released her debut single, "Isle of Dreams", to coincide with the release of Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams. Another song, "Heart Drive" featuring Bobby Edner, was also recorded for Spy Kids 3. Vega sang the song "Christmas is the Time to Say 'I Love You'" in the ABC Family film Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe.
Vega married film producer Sean Covel on October 10, 2010. In July 2012, Vega announced on Twitter that she had divorced Covel. Then Alexa Vega married actor and singer Carlos Pena on January 4, 2014, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
