Amanda Bynes is an american actress. She attended a comedy camp, and began professionally acting at the age of 7, appearing in a television advertisement for Buncha Crunch candies.
At the age of ten she got her start by performing at a Laugh Factory kids' comedy showcase and then she was discovered by Nickelodeon talent scouts and formally brought into the film/ television industry. She starred in the Nickelodeon series All That and The Amanda Show (1999-2002).
Her film debut was in "Big Fat Liar" which was a runaway children movie bonanza. Her Charlie Chaplin style slapstick comedy brought great fun to the film and helped make it a smash hit. She has also starred in several films, including What a Girl Wants (2003), Love Wrecked (2005), Hairspray (2007) and Sydney White (2007).
Amanda Bynes also appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair's July 2003 edition. Bynes was named one of Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars Under 25" in 2006. Her role in the movie Hairspray as Penny Pingleton was a critical and commercial success and became Amanda's most successful film at the time.
In 2012, Bynes announced that she was retiring from acting. She said that she would focus on launching her career as a fashion designer.
