Amanda Holden Biography

Amanda Holden is an English actress, singer and TV Hostess. She studied drama at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in North London.

Holden first appeared on television as a contestant on game show Blind Date in 1991. She got a break in TV acting career in 1998 starring in BBC comedy Kiss Me Kate opposite Caroline Quentin. Her other TV credits include The Grimleys, BBC series Hearts and Bones with Damian Lewis and in Ready When You Are, Mr McGill, a comedy drama co-starring with Bill Nighy and Tom Courtenay. She become a household name in comedy series such as Kiss me Kate and The Grimleys.

In 2010, Holden co-presented The Door with Chris Tarrant. In 2012, Holden presented talent show Superstar on ITV.

Her theatre credits include the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, and more recently Shrek The Musical. In 2004, Amanda was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the West End production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie".

In 1996, Holden played Pamela in Intimate Relations. In 1999, she appeared as a shoe shop assistant in Virtual Sexuality. In October 2013, Amanda released her autobiography called "No Holding Back" which became a Sunday Times Best Seller.

Amanda's personal life has been a subject of much tabloid fodder. She married comedian Les Dennis in June 1995. When Holden's affair with actor Neil Morrissey was exposed in the press, they divorced in 2003. She then married Chris Hughes on December 10, 2008 and they have two daughters, Alexa Louise Florence Hughes (born on Jan 20, 2006) and Hollie Rose Hughes (born on Jan 23, 2012).
