America Ferrera born as America Georgine Ferrera was born on April 18, 1984 is an American actress. Her parents were originally from Honduras, but shifted to the United States in the mid-1970s. Ferrera was raised in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles.
While at El Camino High School, America Ferrera took acting lessons at the age of 15. She attende the University of Southern California on a presidential scholarship and double majored in theater and international relations.
Ferrera's first appearance on television was in a movie Gotta Kick It Up! in July 2002 and feature film debut in Real Women Have Curves (2002). Since then she has featured in many movies such as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005), The Dry Land (2010), Our Family Wedding (2010), End of Watch (2012) and X/Y (2014).
Ferrera is known for her leading role as Betty Suarez in comedy-drama television series Ugly Betty (2006-2010). She won the Imagen Award for Best Actress in 2006 and 2010, Screen Actors Guild Award (2007), Golden Globe Award (2007) for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy and Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2008.

Ferrera met actor, director, and writer Ryan Piers Williams and became engaged in June 2010. They got married on June 27, 2011.
