Former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith, who parlayed her bombshell looks into a life of glamour, controversy and marriage to an oil magnate 60 years her senior, has died at the age of 39 on 8th February 2007 after collapsing in mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Hollywood, Florida, police said. Captain Charlie Tiger of Seminole, Florida, said that a nurse who was with Smith in her hotel room alerted emergency services at 1.38 p.m. Smith was dead on her arrival at a hospital where eyewitnesses reported seeing her wheeled in as her body was covered with a sheet. Tiger said the cause of her death was unknown and would be determined by a medical examiner.

The incident occurred just months after the controversial reality TV personality gave birth to a baby girl in September. Two days after the birth, her grown-up son, Daniel Smith, died while visiting her in the hospital. The former Playboy centrefold rose to national fame when she married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. Marshall died in 1995, prompting a lengthy legal battle between his sons and Smith, which went all the way to the Supreme Court, but was unresolved at the time of her death.

When Anna turned 24 she started into the world of Playboy and won the magizine cover contest, she was then discovered by Paul Marciano, the President of GUESS. Anna was noticed world wide because she was the GUESS girl and the GUESS ad's that she was in all over the world. There was no where for her to go but up. The year was 1993 and if you were to pick up a Playboy you would have seen Anna Nicole Smiths finest hour, she had won the Playmate of the Year. With this honor she became highley sought after and became and instant talk show personallity. Anna was on such televison programs as Entertainment Tonight, The Tonight Show, Larry King, Arsenio Hall, A Current Affair, Inside Edition, E! Entertainment, and Regis and Kathy Lee.
